Hand & Dexterity Exercise Class (Level 1)
Dates: May 5, 12, 19, and June 2, 9, 16, 23, & 30
Join physiotherapist, Shelly Yu, for an exercise series focused on hand and dexterity challenges associated with Parkinson’s Disease. Exercises in this series will target upper extremity movement, hand dexterity, grip strength, hand-finger coordination and handwriting. As this is a hand and dexterity class, all exercises will be done sitting. Please ensure you have a table available to use for the handwriting portion of the class.
Equipment to prepare for the exercise series:
•A tea towel/ kitchen towel
•A small cushion/pillow
•Light hand weights (if no weights are available, you can use cans of soup/beans etc.)
•A cup and 20 pieces of macaroni/pasta
•A pen/pencil and lined pieces of paper

Parkinson Society BC’s exercise programs are promoted with an assigned level of difficulty. Below you will find a description of each level.
| Level 1 |
Slow-paced, low-intensity, and low-impact class. Suitable for all levels of ability, especially those new to exercise and prefer a gentler approach. |
| Level 2 | Moderately-paced and moderate-intensity class. Suitable for those who are looking for a progression from Level 1. |
| Level 3 |
Fast-paced and high-intensity class for those who are looking for a challenge. Participants must be able to safely participate without a carepartner/caregiver present. |
