The Spring 2016 issue of Viewpoints focuses on nutrition’s role in managing Parkinson’s disease (PD). While no specific diet can cure PD, a balanced diet can enhance well-being and potentially alleviate symptoms. It also introduces SongShine, a therapeutic singing program designed to improve voice and communication skills for those with PD. It highlights the importance of breath awareness and emotional expression through singing.
Additionally, the Society launched the “This is Parkinson’s Disease” campaign to raise awareness and challenge misconceptions, encouraging community engagement. More details are provided in this issue. The publication also promotes Dance for PD®, a program that uses dance to enhance mobility and social interaction and emphasizes resources for caregivers, including walking groups and legal assistance for workplace discrimination.
