Parkinson Society British Columbia, alongside several other Canadian partners, is proud to join a new initiative aimed at advancing research on Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), and other neurodegenerative diseases.
The Advancing Groundbreaking Research in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases funding opportunity supports BC-led, interdisciplinary teams conducting research on causes and mechanisms, early detection and diagnosis, therapeutic approaches, and care and service innovations. Applications that study common features between AD and PD are strongly encouraged.
Teams must include at least two researchers (a BC-based primary applicant and a co-lead) and at least one BC-based graduate student, postdoctoral fellow, or early-career researcher. Teams are encouraged to embed people with lived experience (PWLE) in their research team. Successful applications may receive top-up funding of up to $10,000 for PWLE engagement.
This opportunity is made possible by the Canada Brain Research Fund (CBRF), an innovative arrangement between the government of Canada (through Health Canada) and Brain Canada Foundation. Together in partnership with the Alzheimer Society of B.C., Branch Out Neurological Foundation, CLEAR Foundation, Health Research BC, Parkinson Society BC, and the Patrick & Dulcie Lenox Endowment, we are advancing meaningful solutions for BC’s aging population and strengthening networks between researchers, partners, and research users.
