April 23 – 29, 2017 is National Volunteer Week. As a member-based non-profit society, Parkinson Society British Columbia (PSBC) relies heavily on the contributions of dedicated volunteers. PSBC volunteers are diverse, coming from all walks of life, but are united by the common thread of wishing to make a difference in the lives of those affected by Parkinson’s disease (PD).
Volunteers are key to PSBC’s advocacy initiatives, the management of over 50 Parkinson’s support groups across the province, numerous fundraising events, various Parkinson’s programs such as Step by Step, as well as the success of dozens of educational events. On behalf of the Parkinson’s community in British Columbia, PSBC would like to thank volunteers for their hard work and dedication.
On June 3, 2017, PSBC is hosting Moving Forward, Together, at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel in Richmond, BC. The conference will foster an educational and inspirational space for enriching the connection between people with Parkinson’s, carepartners, friends and healthcare professionals. During the day-long conference, PSBC will recognize people with Parkinson’s and carepartners who have gone above and beyond to volunteer with others in their communities. These individuals demonstrate a passion to celebrate each day with joy, compassion and understanding. To nominate someone from your community who embraces the “Above and Beyond” philosophy in their life, fill out the online registration form by Sunday, April 30, 2017.
There are numerous upcoming opportunities to volunteer with PSBC. We are currently recruiting volunteers to help with:
