The 200th anniversary of James Parkinson’s groundbreaking paper, “An Essay on the Shaking Palsy,” prompts reflection on advancements in Parkinson’s disease (PD) and highlights the ongoing need for improved patient outcomes.

In April 2017, for Parkinson’s Awareness Month, Parkinson Society British Columbia (PSBC) launched the “This is Parkinson’s disease” campaign to reshape public understanding of PD and spotlight key issues such as the need for a provincial PD strategy, better healthcare training, and expanding the deep brain stimulation program. The campaign features real-life stories of individuals living with PD to emphasize the community’s diversity and strength.
