Join Our Team as a Volunteer Support Group Facilitator!

Parkinson Society British Columbia (PSBC) is looking for compassionate and dedicated volunteers to facilitate support groups across various locations. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals living with Parkinson’s and their families.

About the Role: As a support group facilitator, you will help create a safe and respectful environment where participants can share their experiences and insights. Your role will involve guiding discussions, providing educational resources, and fostering a sense of community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with group participants—remember, you’re not an expert, but a partner in their journey.
  • Conduct meetings with care, respect, and compassion.
  • Empower participants to take an active role in their own care decisions.
  • Establish and regularly review group ground rules and goals.
  • Facilitate connections and sharing among those facing similar health concerns.
  • Liaise with PSBC staff to ensure smooth communication.
  • Maintain a list of participants’ contact information.
  • Build a facilitation committee to share responsibilities and ensure smooth operations.
  • Welcome newcomers and help them feel included.
