Parkinson Society BC is proud to contribute funding to the Michael Smith Health Research BC Research Trainee Program, which supports the career development of talented post-doctoral or health professional researchers. These awards provide salary support that enables trainees to advance their careers while increasing the productivity of their labs.
Parkinson Society BC, alongside the Pacific Parkinson’s Research Institute, has co-funded the following award for the 2026 year:
- Dr. Faezeh Jame-Chenarboo
- Host institution: Simon Fraser University
- Project title: Bidirectional genome-wide CRISPRi/a screening using ratiometric GCase substrates to identify genetic modulators of lysosomal GCase activity
- Supervisor: Dr. David Vocadlo
While the Research Trainee program concludes with this cohort, we are grateful to the many researchers, supervisors, mentors, peer reviewers, institutions, and partners who have shaped the program over its 25 years.
Supporting BC’s research talent remains core to Health Research BC’s mandate and an important area of focus for Parkinson Society BC. As research careers and the broader environment continue to evolve, so too will our approach to investing in the people who drive health research forward.
