SUMMARY:New Diagnosis Series: Medications\, Alternative and Advanced PD Therapies
DESCRIPTION:Are you newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease (PD)? \nIf you’ve been diagnosed within the past three years\, join us for our virtual New Diagnosis Workshop Series this February! \nLed by a team of experts from the UBC Centre for Brain Health Movement Disorder Clinic\, including Dr. Jonathan Squires\, Dr. Melissa Mackenzie\, Michelle McCarthy (PT)\, Joanna Davis (NP)\, Elaine Book (SW)\, Yolanda Wang (RD)\, and Rosa Jafari (OT)\, this series is designed to help you better understand your diagnosis. \nEach weekly session will focus on an important PD topic\, followed by a 10-minute Q&A to address your questions. \nPlease note that separate registration is required for each session. \nSession 3: Medications\, Alternative and Advanced PD Therapies – Dr. Melissa Mackenzie\, movement disorder specialist \nDr. Mackenzie provides an overview of treatment options for individuals living with Parkinson’s\, addressing key questions such as: When should treatment or medications begin? Is it beneficial to delay starting medications? Who qualifies for advanced treatments? Additionally\, the discussion explores viable alternative forms of therapy such as cannabis. \n\n\n\n\n\nParkinson Society BC appreciates all gifts\, as they allow us to continue to offer programs people with Parkinson’s disease and their carepartners rely on.
