SUMMARY:Communication & Swallow Workshop - Nanaimo
DESCRIPTION:Communication & Swallow Workshop: Nanaimo\, BC\nNovember 14\, 10:00am-2:30pm PT (check-in opens at 9:30am) \nJoin us this November for our Communication & Swallow Workshop in Nanaimo\, led by Licenced Speech-Language Pathologist Jasmine Cload. This interactive and participatory session will focus on the communication and swallowing challenges commonly experienced by people living with Parkinson’s disease. \nOpen to individuals currently experiencing communication or swallowing difficulties\, as well as those looking to be proactive in their care. \nIf you are not currently experiencing communication or swallowing challenges\, participating in the workshop may help reduce future stress\, frustration\, and complications related to communication. For those experiencing difficulties\, the workshop will provide practical\, evidence-based tools to address common concerns such as: \n\nArticulation and volume\nSwallowing of food\, liquid\, pills and salvia\nDrooling and dry mouth\nFacial expression and voice intonation\nWord finding and participating in conversation\n\nRegistered participants will receive a workshop workbook on the day to support participation and continued learning. A catered lunch will be provided. Carepartners are welcome to attend with their loved ones. \nPlease note that space is limited\, registration is required\, and a waitlist will be created once capacity is reached. If you register and are no longer able to attend\, we kindly ask that you notify us as soon as possible so that we may offer your spot to another participant. \nPlease note: This workshop is intended to provide general education and is not a substitute for individual medical advice\, assessment\, or clinical care. \nRegistration closes October 30 at 12:00pm PT.
