SUMMARY:Boxing With Rhythm (Level 2)
DESCRIPTION:Boxing with Rhythm \nDates: August 5\, 12\, 19\, 26\, and September 2\, 9\, & 16 \n\n Please note: You are registering for a series of events. If you register for one event\, you register for the entire series.\nAre you ready…to punch out Parkinson’s? Join Doug Pickard (a former Rock Steady Boxing Affiliate Owner)\, who will lead a seven-week fitness boxing class for Parkinson’s. Persons living with Parkinson’s will experience a total workout for both their mind and body as it incorporates cardio\, strength\, balance\, hand-eye coordination\, and speed! Common non-motor symptoms such as anxiety and depression may also be alleviated through boxing and exercise. \nThe exercises in this class target Parkinson’s symptoms by using high-intensity (but safe) drills\, introducing multi-tasking skills\, promoting movements to reduce freezing\, and focusing on large movement patterns that counteract the shuffling gait. Doug is also excited to introduce a new fun component this time around– boxing to music. This new addition uses rhythm to help facilitate improved movement and a more confident walking gait. Exercises vary in purpose and form but share one common trait: they are rigorous and intended to extend the perceived capabilities of the participant. \n\n\n\n\n\nParkinson Society BC appreciates all gifts\, as they allow us to continue to offer programs people with Parkinson’s disease and their carepartners rely on. If you wish\, you can make a donation by entering an amount in the Additional Donation field. \n\n\n\n\nPlease note: Participation in the exercise programs listed below will be done at your own risk within your home. Please ensure you have the space needed to follow the exercises and that there are no obstacles or barriers in your way. The classes are meant for general information and usage only.
