This fall, Parkinson Society BC (PSBC) member Hilary Vanderliek launched Thoughts R Life, an online boutique. Proceeds from apparel sales benefit PSBC's programs and services. Recently, the website relaunched and Thoughts R Life can now be found at www.thethoughtproject.ca

Hilary is a young woman with Young Onset Parkinson's disease (YOPD). She explains the reasoning behind Thoughts R Life on her blog

"I’ve been asked where I draw my strength and attitude from, despite dealing with Parkinson’s Disease since I was 12 years old.

My answer is that thoughts are life. If you don’t have control of your thoughts, you lose control of your emotions and actions. Thoughts are powerful, so not allowing hatred or negativity in will change your perspective and you can be joyful even in unfortunate circumstances.

Learning to live while loving and focusing on God has changed my life completely. My pastor has said to love and value yourself, and endlessly tell yourself “you can do it” and trust yourself. Then, even if you get exhausted, you will rise again. Even if you are broken, you will stand up tall again.

The shirts say Thoughts R Life because I want to share the message that you can change your circumstance or your perspective if you change your thoughts."
