On April 11, in recognition of World Parkinson’s Day, CKNW and Global BC ran awareness pieces featuring Larry Gifford, who is newly diagnosed with young onset Parkinson’s disease (YOPD), and an active member of the Parkinson Society BC community. This fall, Larry will be continuing to share his story and shed a light on Parkinson’s awareness, with the help of Corus Entertainment, through a podcast called “When Life Gives You Parkinson’s”.
Additionally, Global BC’s Neetu Garcha will be profiling Larry and his everyday experiences with Parkinson’s for several Global BC and BC1 features coming this September. As part of this, we invite the PSBC community to attend a support group meeting which will be filmed and included in these features. This would be an opportunity to talk about your Parkinson’s journey and help spread awareness about the disease. The group will meet on Friday, June 29th at PSBC’s office boardroom.
